MTV launches the MTV Music Meter.
MTV gets with the times and reinvents the music chart - drops emphasis on sales performance and focuses on collective buzz on the interwebs and social media. I guess all that shameless self-promotion really does pay off?
I guess 2011’s marketing strategy is gonna be less about campaigning for NME/Rolling Stones articles and more about that leaked sexting Twitpic or bong hit?
