I’ve spent a long time scouring the net trying to get hold of Noah & The Whale’s ‘First Days Of Spring’ movie to no avail. Turns out, it was on Vimeo all along. Gah.
For what it’s worth, it’s a nice to have pleasant-looking imagery accompany a music score that’s essentially the album playlist from start to end (right down to song order). Lots of washed out colors, lush landscapes juxtaposed against hipsters looking sad, smoking lots of cigarettes and fiddling around with hipster items like typewriters, aviator goggles and bicycles.
It’s described as a film about life, death and loss but we all know it’s probably just an artistic middle finger to Laura Marling (the ex-bandmate and ex-girlfriend that inspired the whole album).
45 minutes long, supposedly shot in 8 days on a meagre budget and a carton of Marlboros. Go on, press play and watch it like the dirty hipster you are!
